9 things you probably didnt know about me

I was playing along with a game on Facebook and decided to make it into a layout. I am not one for talking about myself but I had to think of 9 things about myself that went beyond the usually facts.

1) I started scrapbooking at the age of 20.

2) I don't like snakes or anything that is snake like. its not the fact that its a snake I dislike its the way it wiggles about that makes my skin crawl.

3) I am fascinated by the paranormal

4) my name originates from Ireland and means pure

5) I was born on a Monday

6) I am an Aries which makes me both stubborn and playful

7) I like scifi movies, Prometheus and Aliens are a few of my favourites

8) I wont walk under ladders not because I am superstitious but because I am worried something will fall on me.

9) I believe in angels, no I am not referring to a Robbie Williams song but the belief that a higher being has got your back should something go terribly wrong.

if you would like to play along post a comment and I will pick a number at random.

December Daily pages

things are starting to get busier as the Christmas rush begins and everyone starts rushing about trying to shop for presents.  I have been busy with DT work and making Christmas cards.

this page was made to commemorate 1 whole month to go before Christmas but to be honest its the build up that's the most fun as family and friends get together. I made this page using Papermania /home for Christmas. I created the boarder using a 2inch xcut circle punch and some very fine double sided tape. the mini photos I created using the collage maker from Kodak but you can use pic collage which is a free app.
I learned how to make fabric flowers off a tutorial on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNnYMpqo2vw. I love how they have turned out and I am currently experimenting with different materials.
this was going to be an advent calendar but I will save  that idea  for after Christmas so I can display all my favourite festive photos taken this year. instead I wrote about things I love about winter and most of them involve food or alcohol.
I used a frame die from crafts too to make the pockets and I used the small tag from the xcut luggage tags die set.

The memory nest sketch challenge: selfie

I am playing along with the memory nest sketch challenge this month and the twist for this challenge is to use a self portrait. here is the link for anyone who wants to join in .http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/p/make-it-monday.html
I've never really liked looking at my own photo, I find we are always too critical of ourselves so it takes time to become more comfortable with our own skin.
I used the Papermania Spots and Stripe pastels range for my layers and used the creativity Club exclusive digital papers to make the doily using the x-cut die. the title is made up of several different Tim Holtz alphabet dies.
I used a mask to add the poka dots with Tim Holtz Distress inks peacock and faded rose. the label font was made using the K&co smash label maker.

My totally interactive bits and bobs seaside layout

i found myself with a lot of spare bits and pieces after my holiday ad i need a safe place to put them so i made a layout with lots of pockets.

i used a wood grain mask with modeling paste in the corners and the inked over it with Tim Holtz antique linen ink. i then cut a 8.5 X 8.5 square using papermania Ahoy there papers i used the 12X12 pack. the title is cut from Tim Holtz Vintage Market alpha dies.

the side pocket was inspired by Corene's creations here is a link to the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o9H9MaO3XU. i used a program called Poladroid a free program that lets you turn photos into vintage Polaroid photos. you can find it here http://www.poladroid.net.
i love using these as there is plenty of space for journaling and notes.

the bunting is made from felt as i love to include lots of textures were possible. i used the X-cut Scalloped edge bunting nesting dies and used the smallest one in the set. i then cut a set of mustaches using the Memory box die. you will need to go over it at least 3 times and trim around it with sharp scissors but it depends on your cutting machine. i used the bigshot with the cutting base set on no 2 with a magnetic sheet under neath.
page two is made up of lots of pockets, i got the templates free off pin interest and once i had printed them out i used a laminating machine to coat them  in plastic so  i could keep using them. you can find the templates here  http://www.pinterest.com/katie20121/templates-and-patterns/. for the pocket in the corner i drew around one of the pockets from my Grace Taylor adhesive pockets and tags pack.
here are all the things in my pockets.

the shaker was made out of plastic wrap and added seed beads and die cuts from kanban and sewed up the pocket. i hope you found this tutorial helpful please let me know by leaving a comment.

Spooky Halloween pages

hi its been a while but  i'm back with some new smash pages I made using my new scrapbook from Paperchase. I've created some spooky Halloween pages.

I used Papermania Chronology paper for the background as the colours match the theme perfectly. I then trimmed down a 12X12 chipboard frame from the Papermania Bare Basics Christmas shapes pack and covered it in washi tape.  for the title I used the new Carnival Letters Die cuts from x-cut these are large sized letters about 2.5 inches tall and great for scrapbooks. better still there is a matching stamp set available to decorate your letters with.

for my second page I took some modelling paste and smoothed it over some star shaped sequin waste, I added a tint of green using misting ink. the stickers are from EK success and the pocket I made from BoBunny fright night papers or should that be BooBunny.
the flower rosette I made by cutting 2cm strips of ribbon and gluing them in half to make petals and the glued them around a large button.
